ROCKY MOUNTAIN WAY.
TBF walked away when it was 10-3. I lasted a little bit longer. We just kind of pretended there wasn’t a game on for the rest of the night.
Quite honestly, at this point I have no words. Or feel like everything that one could say about the Mets’ problems right now have already been said.
Right now the All Star break can’t come soon enough.

POINT BREEZE. [7-1-07]
We bought our tickets to these games back when they went on sale. Rightly we assumed that the games would sell out, and we didn’t want to deal with the open market for a frickin road game. So it struck me as odd in the extreme that for the game that sold out first, we were on the field level. But for the game that didn’t sell out for a while (especially when it was slated to be the ESPN Sunday night game) we had this view:
We went to breakfast at the infamous Oregon Diner in South Philly. Mindful of the fact that this was 1) South Philly and 2) the Oregon Diner, we were not wearing Mets anything (except my sneakers, and I was even nervous about that), except that TBF forgot to leave his hat in the car. He stuffed it into his hand after I protested repeatedly. After all of this stealth, we get in line to pay for breakfast only to see a table of about 12 Mets fans in full colors walking up to the cash register. I still believe that my caution was prudent, even if TBF was rolling his eyes at me.

KIDS IN PHILLY. [6-30-07]
Despite immaculate planning, and the fact that we could get to Philly blindfolded, we ended up running through the parking lot at Citizens Bank Park as the National Anthem was being sung, and then bobbing and weaving through the lines for Planet Hoagie and Tony Luke’s in order to get to our seats with about five minutes to spare - and even that was only because we knew where our seats were and parked as close to that side of the stadium as possible, entered as close to that location as possible, and that we both had been there before, and that we are pros at running through a crowd of people not inclined to move with any kind of alacrity.
Our seats, acquired day of sale, were in section 108. Further in the outfield than either of us would ever care to be (we’d rather be on the third deck and behind home plate than field level up the line), but they were nice seats (Coop was impressed, but then again, she was in the last row of CBP with her dad). It gave me a great photographic vantage of home plate that I would likely not run into otherwise. Et voila:
It seemed that no sooner had we sat down but that the Mets were hitting home runs everywhere. Okay, it was only two, but it was right away, and it made us forget how hot we were (Have I mentioned that my Seattle-acquired car has no air conditioning? You really don’t need it out there.) and the goddamn traffic and morons who cannot drive and Philadelphians who cannot walk, or heckle. (More later.)
[More photos, and more game report, after the jump.]

back from philly
So the wifi at the hotel in Philly wasn’t working, and we just rolled in (after a stop in AC - given the traffic we saw at 8pm, we probably saved ourselves a few hours of sitting on 95 by sitting at the tables). And judging by the traffic people are looking for updates! Probably tomorrow after work.(Sorry.)
And our freaking DVR got filled up and as a result the freaking All-Star announcements didn’t tape, and we’re catching up now via Baseball Tonight. All I can say right now is JOHN MAINE WAS ROBBED.
