GETTING CLOSER.

We randomly ended up tonight out in suburbia at Roosevelt Field, where we went to the Mets Clubhouse Shop. Jerseys with the last year of Shea patch are 50% off, and you can pick up t-shirts for certain former players at a significant discount:

(I picked up a CHAVEZ 10 shirt.)

They were also selling these shirts with the logo that was supposed to only be on items sold at the ballpark:

The New Era hats with the logo are also being sold there, too.

We briefly wandered down to Steiner Sports, where this chair in the window caught our eye. There’s a joke here somewhere that neither of us could come up with, I’m hoping you can help.

Finally, while driving back home on the LIE, we noticed that all of the SHEA PARKING, EXIT 22 signs now read CITI FIELD PARKING. No, I’m not upset about it, just still a little wistful. TBF took the 7 train out to Willets Point today and was not much enamored of the conductor announcing the stop as “Willets Point/Citi Field”.  He rode in the first car so he could take photos, and chatted with the conductor who told him that almost every day there’s someone riding in the first car so they can take pictures. (And when he gets them uploaded, he may allow me to share some.)

TBF also notes that they are making good progress with getting the grounds ready (and everyone was out there working today), but in his opinion, there is no way there will be a parking lot on the former site of Shea by Opening Day. On the other hand, who knows? I remember driving by the construction of Safeco Field on a daily basis and thinking the same thing.

Well lets see where to begin….
I pass on the 1/2 price stuff that always happens.  I guess Domino’s must be mad they are going to loose all that free advertising or Jeffie Wilpon realized that no one would buy that other design and has been working it in everywhere like on the tickets (where they have both).  The Glavine chair hmm what an overpriced piece of crap just like Glavine!!!! Someone should point out that the station is Willets Point/ Mets. Remember the same thing about Safeco but I was coming from Bremerton and walked from the ferry.
