IDLE HYMNS OF PRAISE. [04-10-08]

image These are the games we remember. 2006, sitting through frigid April baseball, extra innings on a Tuesday night, wishing that they didn’t stop selling beer at the 7th inning. I left work around 6pm tonight and as people clad in orange and blue got on the train at 5th Avenue and then again at Grand Central, it made me think about calling TBF, telling him to ditch the errands, get on the train, and meet me out in Flushing. But, duty called, and I came home, via a lovely stroll across the Pulaski Bridge.

Pedro Feliciano has every right to have a song written about him.
I take back every terrible thing I have ever said about Scott Schoeneweis.
And TBF called Angel Pagan saving this game… okay, several innings earlier, but he called it.

What a beautiful game. What a soaring feeling. Jose smiling, Delgado smiling, Damion f’ing Easley coming through like a champ, Santana running out of the dugout at game’s end as gleeful as any kid just up from AAA.

See you tomorrow.

Wow! The association of this entry’s title with the producer of the game winning RBI is not lost =)

I was hoping someone would get it. Forgetting, of course, that you are now a regular.

I had the pleasure of sitting in the SNY Luxury Suite (right next to the Wilpons’ suite) for Wednesday’s game.  Suffice it to say, I was so plastered from the free Grey Goose that I missed half of it.

However, me and a couple of friends ended up not getting kicked out.  So, we stuck around in the box until the bitter end and we saw the most amazing thing… the shutting off of the big spotlight grids on top of Shea.

Seriously… this blew my mind, and not just because I was tanked.  You actually heard the big “CHUNK!” as each grid was shut off.  The field was completely dark.  It was beautiful beyond words.  I regret drinking so much, because I would have enjoyed it even more.  It was surreal.

Add that to a great game, free food, and free booze and you’ve got baseball the way it was meant to be watched.  I hate my season seats now.  I want to live in this Luxury Suite.  God bless America.

dude, the place to go show off that you were so drunk at the game you don’t remember it isn’t here. there are other blogs where you will be embraced like a brother.

there are so many things wrong with this i don’t even know where to start. i invite the rest of you to help me out, however.
