OUR NEW MANIFESTO.

Greg says it best:

I stand by my statement of clarity: the Mets suck. A team does not have this stretch of games without internal suckitude defining its very soul. A team does not get the trademark Johan Santana start for which all had been waiting and then throw it away without some incredible suck.

Billy Wagner...somebody check his middle initial. I’ll bet it’s an S.

At least I’m not a beat writer. At least I don’t have to manufacture something out of nothing.
At least I’m not a MLB writer, having to spin content out of thin fucking air.
At least I wasn’t tempted to go to this game, even though Santana v. Haren hurt to miss on some level.
I would say that I feel bad for Johan, but $137m has a way of making things okay I bet. (Which is mean. But I’m cranky right now.)

Hey, at least there’s no game tonight! Go home and enjoy the weather. Take a walk. Ride a bike. Go out and throw a baseball. That’s what we’re going to do. See you in McCarren Park.

If, like myself, you receive the postgame alerts by e-mail from the Mets’ website, you can unsubscribe by clicking on a command at the bottom of any alert.  You’ll just have to respond to one fresh prompt, and that’s it.

I just did.  It’s only one step, but it’s a start.

BTW: I saw on Newsday’s site that Alou is scheduled to go on the DL.  I presume that means Omar has his pen out to re-sign him through his 83rd birthday.

Speechless. Seriously, I was there today and I have never seen/felt anything like it. (OK, yes I have, but perhaps that’s the real problem). But really? Wagner, what’s up?!

I say it’s high time to let these starters be finishers. They get paid enough to be able to throw more than 100 or so pitches. It’s ridiculous.

And if I was Santana or Pelfrey, I’d be waiting in the parking lot for the bullpen guys.

I was there today. For my birthday. What a present I got. Seven innings of brilliance, wiped away by yet another bullpen meltdown.

I still hold out hope that things will get better (it’s that pesky eternal optimism), yet with each passing day I wonder how I didn’t see this coming.
