SUBWAY SERIES 09.
This is Mr. Met’s take on the series thus far.
Go right ahead, Yankees fans. Beat your chests and preen and shout, you beat a team consisting of Daniel Murphy, Argenis Reyes, Alex Cora, Brian Schneider, Jeremy Reed, led by that Cy Young contender Tim Redding, with David Wright striking out big and before you say “Gary Sheffield,” remember that he’s the player that the Tigers were happy to pay US to take off their hands.
So, yeah, you go right ahead and brag about that.
Tomorrow night? Maybe? Chien-Ming Wang? Could we actually get some hits early on so I don’t have to spend half the game Tweeting to jinx the no-hitter?
Oh, I’m sorry - am I being cranky?

Nothing breaks my heart more than seeing Mr. Met hurting like that.
I went to the game against the Cardinals on Tuesday night. (My Anniversary)
We were 6 rows off the field, just past the visitors dugout. I was pretty psyched that I might catch a foul ball or see someone come diving into the stands. No such luck.
The worst part of the night was that I only saw Mr. Met twice for about 30 seconds each time.
If I can’t see any of the real players, the least they could do is give me some Mr. Met.
The crankiness is well deserved for the games where we played embarrssing baseball (3 so far, by my count). And… yes, I don’t understand any Yankee fan crowing over winning this series, either.
We were at the game last night and since we’re in the last row of 518, it was actually hard to hear the sporadic Yankee chearing. Thank goodness it was drowned out by the breeze and the food court behind/below us. In our area and on the way out (and even on the subway and train home), I heard very few comments from Yankee fans. I guess those people realized the imbalance of the situation.
As for last night, the Yanks got good pitching and defense. Plus, our triple A line-up is showing its colors. Tim did as well as I expected and it would have been closer if Jerry had someone ready to come in for him. We still weren’t scoring, though.
Hopefully Livan will bring us a win tonight.
I think there have been more than three games this year where we played embarrassing baseball, but that’s just my opinion.
I actually think that people have a right to feel however they want to feel about anything, just about any time they wish to feel it. But, again, I realize that this radical thought is just my opinion.
Christopher, I also have felt that we don’t see Mr. Met enough any more, and one night Keith made a similar comment, and Gary responded that it’s harder to see him now because he’s in the concourses. I do think that is what’s happening, but would also like to see him a little more. They could put him on the field for the starting lineup announcements, a lot of teams do that.
