THE UNOFFICIAL 2009 METS THEME SONG.

An email landed in my box last night:

a little punk rock tune about our favorite team… with a mp3 attached, courtesy the 45 Adapters, from Brooklyn, NY.

I downloaded. I played. I pogoed.

I am delighted by this little number. We’ve had pop and rap and synth pop. It is HIGH TIME time that punk rock got a chance to represent the Mets.

Seriously, do you really want to hear “Heat of the Moment” one more time? This is awesome! You can play and/or download the song from their widget below.

Comments below, good and bad please. (Yes, they’re probably watching.)

(NO THIS IS NOT AN APRIL FOOL’S PRANK.)

I wish this were actually an April Fool’s joke.

Sorry.

Signed,
Jose

P.S. - I’m calling Bobby Bonilla right now to ask him where he bought those earplugs back in ‘92.

I couldn’t even get my swerve on to that…is that you, Willie McGee?

Figures, a Cardinal would like that song.

TOTALLY watching! Sorry you didn’t dig it Jose, maybe the reggaeton version? That one features 7% more swerve.

As for you Tim…I’m looking for Dibble’s phone number right now..

i like it - its got a deadboys quality to it

I thought it was kinda fun, although obviously a little dated. However, I’m 44, so it’s in my wheelhouse for late high school / early college era punk fun. It made me want to go dig out an old X album. I listened a few times to catch some of the lyrics, but couldn’t manage to pick them all out. Are they posted anywhere?

Rusty - I know! When I first listened to it, I said, “Well, Stiv Bators is going to be calling for royalties” - total Sonic Reducer echo.

The band members are watching so I am hoping they will post lyrics, Ken.

now i know whats following the Bender X epic “yankees suck” on my baseball ‘09 play list

I definitely prefer it to many of the sonic atrocities committed in the name of the Mets over the years.  Though I am fond of Yo La Tengo’s version of Meet the Mets.

I’m thinking of penning a Mets themed, Joy Division-esque dirge, and I will title it, “Late September”.

Posted by vertigone  on  04/01  at  09:38 PM

i liked it ...

its hard to do a team themed song without it soundin a lil corny but i think they pretty much nailed it…i especially like the use of the official name on the chorus

lets go metropolitans!

I also dig this song! I’m trying this year to make a playlist of all the batting songs for the lineup and maybe what the video guys play at the beginning of the game to rev everyone up (Last year it was Matchbox 20..). When I’m done, I’ll email it to Caryn so she can post it if she wants :)
