WHAT TIME IS IT?

“Why, Stevie, I believe it’s time to ACT LIKE YOU WANT TO GO TO THE POST SEASON.”

at this point, i don’t think i could deal with watching this team get swept in the first round of the playoffs.  can they just forfeit the whole thing and start all over in 2008?

I agree. Even if they do make it to the playoffs by the skin of their teeth (or even worse: a one game playoff in Philly) it will be hard to watch them play against good teams when they suck so bad against horrible teams.

Things have gone so very south.....

I know I owe something more thoughtful and retrospective but I killed my sleep by staying up on Tuesday to writea post about a game I didn’t plan on writing about.

but, tonight. where pedro is our savior, or not.

krup, i keep saying to TBF that it would kill me for them to get to the playoffs and then choke. he would rather at least get to the playoffs. i’m not so sure i really agree.

Well in TBF’s defense, honey, I would say...we won’t know about choking until we GET there, so i’d also rather make it, just to see.  :D

i wish i was stronger but i really don’t think i could stand it.  i’ve been saying “you gotta believe” for a ridiculously long period of my life and it’s helped me get through some pretty bad years.  but this year feels different.  i think the entire mets’ world is still feeling the hangover of beltran’s last at bat against st. louis a year ago.  no one wants to get fooled again.  you could feel it at shea all season long (perhaps that’s why they’ve played better on the road).  the electricity in the air during every game of last year’s playoffs was absolutely amazing—people standing and cheering in the top of the 1st with no outs and a 2 strike count.  i’ve never experienced energy like that before.  and then, poof...that ball whizzes by a frozen beltran.  this year has been one long, “hey guys, prove to us that last year wasn’t a fluke.” and the mets have done their best to prove to us that it was indeed a fluke.

so my point is?  who the hell knows?!?  like i said, i wish i was stronger.  which ultimately means i’ll cave and watch the remaining games and hope and wish and pray that they end up in first place and cruise through the playoffs, etc., etc.

I relive that strikeout nearly every time Beltran comes up to bat.

Of course I’ll watch every remaining game, but I’ll be one of those “worried” and “quiet” fans the SNY guys referred to last night. My eyebrows are in a constant state of furrow.
