WHERE WERE YOU?

9/8/98: I found out that Mark McGwire broke the HR record from Eddie Vedder on the stage of the Brendan Byrne Arena (okay, so it was actually Continental Airlines Arena at that point, but just barely).

It’s the only original thing I have to add to the McGwire media blitz.

Yeah… I’m late to the party.
I was on a cruise ship (the Celebrity Century) in the Caribbean. We caught the replay on the TVs in the sports bar not long after it happened. I was rather choked up at the time. I had always liked McGwire and figured he would be the one to break the record, if he stayed healthy. I guess we know now how he managed to stay healthy…

how awesome.  i was there too.  a little surreal.  he did that little demonstration with jeff ament.  what a long time ago.

JR, if I remember correctly, that was where we met for the first time - in the parking lot.

And cool that there waa someone else there (so was Coop, but she commented on freaking facebook and not here)
