WILLETS POINT/SHEA STADIUM.
What happens to the name of the subway station?
Does it change? Will the MTA allow it? I doubt it, but the almighty dollar speaks volumes.
This will bother me. A lot.

...just like Irving Plaza is still Irving Plaza, even if they try to make it look like the Fillmore by painting the staircase maroon, plastering posters up and down, and playing ‘greensleeves’ at the end of the show.
sorry, pet peeve.
To get back on topic, I really don’t want them to change the name. But, I mean, in Seattle people go to Safeco or ‘the Safe’ they don’t go to the dome any more (even if the neighborhood is still referred to -pathetically - as SoDo).
I just wonder how many people really care. Or think it’s important.
Have you noticed that just before you walk down the new staircase, that the signs on the wall, while in MTA style for the stop name, just say “Baseball”. That to me is a travesty.
It’s so funny that you wrote this because I JUST said the same thing to Ryan on Friday when we were heading out to the game!
I think it will be like the E train to the World Trade Center… it should just stay as it is. Because to us, it will always be Shea.
Actually, Shell, that sign has been there for years. It’s one of my favorite signs. There’s one on the other side that says “Tennis”.
I hope they do not change it!
funny question - i know even if the signs change, the ballpark changes, the name changes, etc - I will probably still say “Shea.” it’s just in my DNA
