YES, YOU DO DETECT A THEME.

DSC_0001 2

Part of today’s birthday gifts from TBF.

I really wanted a pink glove, but they’re all softball gloves. We’d been talking about this for a year or so now, and a few months ago, while in a sporting goods store, I started trying gloves on and fell in love with this one, because it fit wonderfully and just felt right.

You are looking at my very first baseball glove.

Congrats!! Your first baseball glove.  I can tell you about first baseball gloves.  I’m 64 years old, and I still have my first one, which was bought in 1949 in a manner which only the oldtimers will remember, that is with Green Stamps. My next one was a Rawlings Walker Cooper catcher’s mitt which I still have.  The last one I bought was a Wilson Pro model, bought long after I could squat, or at least get out of a squat after I did.  Point being, I can really understand your excitement.  There is something magical about a glove!!!

Thanks for your great blog. As a Southerner, I appreciate the N.Y. flavor which you bring to the Mets news.
